Museum and library
The educational center in August 2007 with an expanded museum and a library. The museum focuses on the Mayan culture, the flora of Guatemala, and the relationship between them. The deer dance is a good example of the relationship between them. In the museum the masks and musical instruments used for the opening of the deer dance. The deer dance was not performed in El Corozal by the high cost of hiring the masks and costumes. The purchase of the masks and costumes is a valuable tradition restored.
The annual increase of three days permanent deer dance is now officially registered as a village festival, and attracts many interested.
Besides the attributes of the deer dance are also several Mayan costumes to see replicas of ancient Mayan art, large pictures of different animals accompanied by textual material and some beautiful murals.
A small library is also part of the museum. Here children can read books about nature and Mayan culture. Children in El Corozal see their next textbook in school almost never a book and there is therefore great interest in the library. Besides books the library also contains a number of Duma materials such as paints, scissors, paper and crayons. Children in the library next to their knowledge enhance their creativity.
